We release works,not garments
Maison Fontane is a Toronto studio releasing limited edition streetwear as conceptual works. Every piece is acid-washed, cut with raw hems and hand-finished in numbered runs of fifty. Nothing is restocked; when a run closes, it belongs to whoever moved first.
Hand-finished
Every garment is mineral-washed, distressed and finished by hand. No two pieces carry the same damage, and that irregularity is the signature — not a defect.
Numbered runs
Each work is released in a run of fifty numbered pieces. Your edition number is tied to the batch and recorded in the studio archive.
No restocks
When a run closes, it closes. We do not reprint, reissue or extend a batch. The next chapter arrives as new work, never as a repeat.
Industrial surrealism
Corroded surfaces against polished imagery — chrome dolls, skeletal hands, roses cut in silver ribbon. Dark romance rendered in washed black and oxblood.
The process
Fabric is drowned in mineral wash until the colour surrenders. Hems are severed rather than stitched. The surface is left to remember the damage before any graphic is applied.
Onto that ruin we press a polished image. The contradiction between corrosion and chrome is the whole point of industrial surrealism — beauty that has clearly been through something.
